How to Edit Your Facebook Comments
With no fanfare, Facebook just implemented a change to its commenting functionality. You can now edit your comments.
I like it.
Sometimes that snappy banter I wrote just a few minutes ago, doesn’t look so clever or kind from even the tiniest bit of hind sight. If I feel the urge to change it, now I can…without deleting the whole thing and starting over.
You can too. But, you can only edit comments, not status updates. (If you don’t like a status update, your only choice is to delete it. In which case, any comments made by others are also deleted.)
Here’s how to edit your Facebook comments:
- Hover your cursor over the comment you want to change.
- Find the pencil icon in the top right corner. Click it.
- Select Edit from the drop down.
- Edit your comment.
- Hit Return.
If you type too fast for your own good spelling, you’ll love this.
But here’s the kicker. Facebook saves the previously edited versions of your comment.
So, bad news…your original comment never goes away. It’s there for everyone to see. Unless you delete it.
I still like it.
Think before you click.
