#BucketList: 10 Things I Want To Do Before I Die
In a continuation from last week’s initial “Meet the KimberTeam” post by Matt LaCasse,” I have spent the week thinking about the 10 things I would like to do before I die.
Before I begin, I want you to know that just like Gini Dietrich, I have no intention of this being an all-inclusive list. Actually, for me, this is more like the 10 things I want to do in the next 10 years. And, as I tick each one of these things off my list, I plan to add another item. Ready? Go!
-
Run a 10K
This year I ran my first 5K and… I barfed about 5 steps after I crossed the finish line. I am not a runner, but I have this weird desire to be a runner. Once I get this one crossed off the list, a triathlon will take its place.
-
Own a new and fuel efficient car
In two years, my current car will be 20 years old. One day in the next 10 years, I want to pay cash for a car that is less than 3 years old.
-
Pay off our college loans
My partner Seth and I both have a Bachelor’s degree to get paid off. A combination of in-state and out-of-state tuition makes this a pretty significant task.
-
Tour Europe for our 10-year anniversary
The first semester of my senior year in college I was lucky enough to study abroad in Rennes, France. Seth came to visit me and we celebrated our 1-year anniversary at the Eiffel Tower. Before we have kids, I want to take a month to tour Europe with Seth. With a specific focus on hiking, drinking and eating our way through Cinque Terre, Italy.
-
Stringer-Conner family
One day we will have a healthy and happy Stringer-Conner family.
-
Own, and run, my own business
In order to accomplish #2 and #3 above, and multiple items below, I need to be successful and financially comfortable. One day, I would love to start my own marketing/pr consulting firm. I may be the only employee or it might become something bigger. Either way, I have every intention of being my own boss at some point in my life. I want to deliver a quality product, I want to make an impact, I want to give back and I want the flexibility to work the hours that work for me, my clients and my family.
-
Live in a home directly on the ocean with a local coffee shop within walking distance
When I am at the beach I get a feeling that is unlike anywhere else. I feel calm, peaceful and centered. There is something majestic about looking at something so vast and feeling so small. I intend to have extra rooms so that our family and friends can come visit.
-
Get my Yoga teaching certification
This one is inspired by Laura Scholz. Yoga is my spiritual balance and connection. I would love to dive deeper into my practice. After putting in the time, I want to acquire my Yoga certification and teach a class out on the beach every morning.
-
Provide for my friends and family
There is a group of people (they know who they are) in my life that have given me endless amounts of love and support. I wouldn’t be where I am today without their help and guidance. I would like to be able to return this to them in some shape or form. I want to use the skills, resources and connections that I have, and will develop, to provide for those I love. This one will always be #9 on my list.
-
Enjoy my life
I tend to go full-force toward my goals and sometimes I forget to be present in the moment. Life is short. Happiness is required. This will always be #10 on my list.
P.S. – I find it incredibly ironic that the movie The Bucket List came on TV as I was writing this post. Best line of the movie – “I know that when he died his eyes were closed and his heart was open.”
